Our curriculum, at all grade levels and in all subjects, is based on the guidelines given to us by the Diocese of Wilmington. Teachers are encouraged to integrate different subjects in the curriculum in order to maximize instructional time and facilitate the transfer of skills and understanding. In addition, faculty members are responsible for making choices based on student need and developmental level.
In grades kindergarten through four, homeroom teachers teach all academic subjects except for third and fourth grade where each teacher specializes in either science or social studies. In the upper grades, students are grouped by ability for math and language arts with each teacher specializing in one or two subjects. Special subjects, art, music, Spanish, computer, physical education, and study skills, are taught in heterogeneous groups and in some subjects are divided into three small groups.
